Ronda Rousey defeats Ediane Gomes

On Sunday March, 27 at KOTC: "Turning Point" in Tarzana, California.

Ronda "Rowdy" Rousey (1-0-0) defeated Ediane Gomes (6-2-0) by submission (armbar) in the first round of their 145-pound professional MMA match.

Ronda who made her pro debut in this match submitted her opponent Gomes in twenty five seconds of the first round in what was a repeat performance of what she did against Taylor Stratford in her last amateur match for Tuff-N-Uff. Ronda who was scheduled to move on in the tournament for Tuff-N-Uff instead decided to turn pro and now we see why.

Ronda is a Judo black belt who won the bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in China.

She was the #1 ranked amateur fighter at 145-pounds with a record of 3-0.

The question now is what is next for this MMA phenom hopefully Strikeforce will sign her and we can see her against the top women in the world at 145-pounds.

During her post fight victory interview at Tuff-N-Uff, Ronda proclaimed that she would be fighting Christiane "Cyborg" Santos before the end of 2011 and with one more victory that could very well be the case.

  1. Amazing. She is going to have a great future in MMA. Can't wait to see her in the cage with Cyborg.
