The NAAFS is pleased to present Ohio’s first ever all female MMA event Eve of Destruction on Saturday September 18th from Chapparell’s Center in Akron, OH. This event will feature both professional and amateur fights as the women of the NAAFS take center stage for one of the most historic events to ever take place inside the NAAFS cage.
The main event at Eve of Destruction will be a professional bout in the 125 lbs division that will see Marissa “Shorty” Caldwell (4-1) of Vision MMA take on 2009 National Amateur Women’s Champion Jessica “Evil” Eye (6-0) of Strong Style Fight Team. Caldwell enters this battle having won four of her last five fights and her only defeat coming at the hands of former Strikeforce #1 contender Jan Finney. Training at Vision MMA alongside names like current Interim Pro Series Lightweight Champion Daniel Straus, Caldwell is no stranger to entering enemy territory for a fight. Jessica Eye is coming off a successful pro debut at Fight Nite in the Flats VI, where she defeated Amanda LaVoy by TKO in the second round. Now Eye returns to battle, looking to pick up her second professional victory and to defend the honor of her hometown crowd. Will it be a successful homecoming for the Strong Style standout or business as usual for Vision MMA's rising female star?Eve of Destruction will also play host to one of the most highly anticipated rematches ever in the NAAFS as “The All-American Girl” Amanda Wilcoxen (6-0) once again puts her unbeaten record on the line against perennial favorite “The DNA Princess” Jessica Zomcik (4-2) of Team DNA. These two ladies met the first time at the 3rd Annual Rock N Rumble last August, where Wilcoxen had her raised in victory after a controversial ending that had fans clamoring to see a rematch. Those wishes will be granted as part of the historic Eve of Destruction event on September 18th in Akron, OH.
The top ranked fighters in the National Amateur Women’s division will be action as well. Number one ranked Rachel “The Rage” Dovidio (3-1) of Team Core returns to her hometown area to take on Marciea Allen (4-1) of Premier Combat Center and Disorderly Conduct. The unbeaten Tamikka Brents (4-0-1) will be taking on Tera Carper (6-2) of Premier Combat Center and Hollowpoint Combat Sports. South Carolina’s Jordan McDonald (3-1) comes back to NAAFS competition against Summer Artherton (2-0) of Disorderly Conduct and it will be a battle of undefeated warriors as Leitta Suchevich (2-0) takes on Shawna Brown (2-0) in another highly anticipated fight on this card.
In addition to a night of great action, world #1 ranked 125lbs female fighter Tara LaRosa will be making a special appearance and will provide commentary for the main event.
