Ediene Gomes vs. Hiroko "Cat's Eye" Yamanaka

On Saturday January, 5 at Invicta Fighting Championship 4: "Esparza vs. Hyatt" at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas

#2 ranked 145 pound fighter Ediene Gomes (9-2-0) will take on #12 ranked 145 pound fighter Hiroko "Cat's Eye" Yamanaka (12-2-0) in a 145 pound professional MMA match.

Ediene is a 5'6 thirty-one year old fighter originally from San Pao, Brazil but now training out of American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida where she is trained by Master Ricardo Liborio amongst many others.

She is coming off of a very impressive comeback victory over Katalina Malungahu (2-1) that saw her get bested on the feet but once the fight went to the ground it was all Ediene as she got the submission (guillotine choke) in the first round of their fight on October, 6th.

Ediene  is currently on a three fight winning streak,  during her win streak she has also defeated Katrine Alendal (3-5) by leg lock and Leslie Smith (4-2) by unanimous decision.

her last loss to Ronda Rousey that came in March of 2011 when she was submitted by armbar. The only other loss on of her career came in February of 2010 when Amanda Nunes defeated her by TKO due to punches.

Other notable victories have come against Marissa Caldwell (2-5) Ana Maria (3-4) Michelle Farias (0-1) Pamela Rivelis (0-1) and Elaine Santiago (0-3) who she defeated twice in her first two matches. The only other loss Elaine had before she retired in 1997 was a loss to Cyborg by TKO but that was her first fight she didn't retire until Ediene submitted her twice by first round armbar.

Hiroko is a 5'11 thirty-four year old fighter from Kisarazu, Japan she trains at Master Japan.

She is coming off of a loss at Strikeforce in August of 2012 when she was defeated by Germaine de Randemine by unanimous decision. The only other loss of her career came against highly ranked 135 pound Japanese fighter Hitomi Akano by armbar in April of 2008. Hiroko would later avenge that loss with a split decision victory in March of 2010. She would have three losses on her record if not for the fact that Christiane "Cyborg" Santos tested positive for a banned substance after their fight in December of 2011 that was originally a TKO victory for "Cyborg" but was later changed to a No Contest.

Hiroko holds victories over Bolormaa Erdenebileg (2-2) Molly Helsel (8-13-1) Sandy Furner (0-1) Atsuko Emoto (2-4) Shannon Hooper (1-4) Michiko Takeda twice (4-4) Mayumi Aoki ( 6-9) Yoko Takahashi (15-12-2) Yuiga (3-6) and Rie Murakami (1-1)
