Dar'ya Hamilton defeats Stacey Scapeccia

On Saturday, January, 5 at Reality Fighting "New Year's Bash" at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Dar'ya Hamilton (1-0-0) defeated Stacey Scapeccia (0-1-0) by TKO due to doctor stoppage (swollen eye) in the second round of their 135-pound amateur MMA match.

Dar'ya is a 5'8 Nineteen year old fighter originally from Saratov, Russia who is now living and training in Middleboro, Massachusetts with Lauzon's MMA. She is coached by Joe Lauzon, Joe Proctor, Steve Maze, Andy Aiello, and Team Aggression.

I asked Dar'ya what got her started in MMA and this was her answer, "I got started in MMA after watching UFC fights with my family at home. It progressed from doing karate at the age of nine, to doing judo at the age of 13. After moving, I took a break from martial arts in general. I then found a jujitsu school under Wayne Marble. He taught me really well. However, we ended up moving which caused me to take a break from the martial arts for some time. At the age of 14 I picked up kickboxing and Muay Thai. At 18 I got my black belt under Louis Celona. Something was lacking however, I wanted to do more than standup. That is when I walked into Joe Lauzon's gym at the age of 18. I have been with them for about a year and it is amazing. They are a fantastic group of people and treat me like one of the guys. I am improving my entire game from jitz to wrestling to standup, and I have team aggression to thank."
